Born to Rock

Born to be Brave

Los Angeles-based, Philly born and raised.

This marks a coming out in many ways leaving behind the life I once knew as a bored, anonymous CIS male in the corporate world.

I write and produce all my songs, play guitar and sing.  Working with engineer Kevin Jarvis at Sonic Boom Studios in Venice on my debut record "Punky's Revenge."

I hope to inspire others to live the lives they've always imagined.

PRESS RELEASE

LP Release:

U Not a Victim

Updated May 9, 2024

Punky Ramone won’t conform.  She won’t conform to any label whether it be gender, social or politically-based.  She has one mission and one mission alone – to tell the truth.  And, to Punky, truth is what rock n roll is all about.

“I grew up on music like the Stooges and the Replacements, and those were bands that just told the truth,” PR says.  “That’s how and why I write and play music to get through the struggle, and I really believe the struggle is universal.”

Her songs are sometimes fun, bittersweet, or angry.  Cutting her chops in years of garage rock bands and dingy clubs in Philly, Punky did in about face at age 40, embracing herself being truly non-conforming, different, proud, and just plain weird.

“Weird is good,” says PR.  “It’s kept art relevant and vital since the very beginning.  Now society has built a lot of labels to keep people apart and keep the menu the same.  I hope my music can offer up something new and familiar all at once, but mostly I’m just being authentic.  My brand is truth.”

Punky’s first singles “Underneath,” and “Signs” are currently on playlists worldwide exploring sexual power dynamics and social alienation, respectively.

Punky’s debut album U R Not a Victim hits streaming services, June 1.  It’s a blistering 10-song sweep across the touchstones of rock music with influences from 60’s girl pop to Black Sabbath.  Her songs emote the struggle for self-realization in a world set on placing limits on the individual through the stifling of free thought, a pervasive media culture and manipulative politics.
